My First Day At H.I.S Writing

This is a piece of “ recount writing “ from what happened on my first day at Hastings Intermediate School.

Type of recount: Personal

There I was, standing in front of HIS feeling nervous and excited.  I walked up to greet the man standing at the gate and gave him a fairly firm handshake and walked on towards the classrooms. Once I had reached I was told to go and stand in the line of my old primary school. I came from Parkvale so you could probably guess what line I was gonna stand in. Moments later Mr. Foster ( the assistant principal ) welcomed us into HIS and told us what to do next. we were told to go into the hall and sit down and wait for Sir ( Principal’s ) instructions.

The minute when I entered the hall all I could hear was the year eights giving their best shot to welcome us into HIS. When the boys finished their haka it felt like the roof was gonna come down on us because they were so powerful and strong.

When the year eights had finished, Sir came and told us what we were gonna do next and how we were gonna do it. He said that he was going to go over some basic rules about HIS and tell us how to behave and what is expected here at HIS.

When Sir had finished telling the rules about the school, The year eights went back to their classrooms and we were told what rooms we were gonna be in. Mr. Brook was telling us what room were gonna be in and my name was called out out be in room 12. I was really excited to go to my new room and my teachers name was Mr. Hill.

Mr. Hill put us into to lines and leaded the way to room 12. I got into room 12 and hung up my bag and found my desk to sit at. First of all Mr. Hill introduced himself to the students and parents and told the parent to stay as long as they like.

Very soon after Mr. Hill had finished talking about HIS and going over the rules again to make sure we understand, The lunch bell went and we were told to wear our hats and grab our lunch and sit outside and eat.

When I had finished eating a few minutes later the bell went to play but we had an assembly so we went there to find Sir and all the other staff members.

When assembly had finished we got a little bit of time to play and the we went back to our classrooms. Mr. Hill told a lot more about the school and e did some work in our books. And before we knew the bell went for the end of school. After that there was an assembly and Sir dismissed us to go home.

Over all I think that HIS is an awesome and fun school along with learning and education..
I can’t wait to have a fun filled year with my classmates and my teacher Mr. Hill
